altHurricane Earl (Category 1) struck Belize on 4 August 2016. Although no fatalities occurred, the storm caused major infrastructure and building damage, as well as damages to the agriculture sector. Extensive flooding was reported in most of the country. All regional hospitals remained operational. PAHO/WHO deployed experts in health coordination, environmental health, and damage assessment and needs analysis.On 6 August Earl made landfall in eastern;Mexico as a Tropical Storm, where it left a toll of 41 people dead and 8000 affected. Floods and;landslides;damaged 1650 homes, and 1700 families had to be moved to shelters.

altThe final toll of Tropical Storm Isaac was two people dead in the U.S. and 24 in Haiti. In addition, hundreds of thousands of people were left without electricity. In Haiti there was an increase in cholera cases and in the Dominican Republic hundreds of people had to be moved to shelters. Also, in the Dominican Republic six hospitals and one health center were affected by the heavy rains.
