PAHO supports restoration of health services in countries affected by Hurricane Irma
Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) experts are supporting efforts to restore health services in the islands most affected by Hurricane Irma, with the deployment of health infrastructure experts, sanitary engineers, epidemiologists, and others, in collaboration with the affected countries.
Caribbean countries assess Hurricane Irma damage, with PAHO support
Countries in the Caribbean are assessing hurricane damage from Hurricane Irma and deploying sanitary engineers and other experts, with help from the Pan American Health Organization, to support recovery efforts in the most affected islands, even as the hurricane moves to other islands and toward the US mainland.
Magnitude 8.2 earthquake with epicenter in the State of Chiapas, Mexico
On 8 September 2017, the National Coordination of Civil Protection of the Ministry of the Interior issued a Special Emergency Declaration for 41 municipalities of the state of Oaxaca due to the occurrence of the magnitude 8.2 earthquake, with epicenter in the municipality of Pijijiapan, in the state of Chiapas, on 7 September.
