Hospitales de Piura y brigadas de intervención en emergencias son beneficiados con equipo médico
Piura, 04 de agosto de 2017.- Diferentes hospitales de la región Piura han sido beneficiados gracias al apoyo de OPS, el hospital Santa Rosa y Cayetano Heredia. El Hospital Santa Rosa, ha recibido un ecógrafo digital que servirá para reforzar las capacidades del servicio de ginecología y obstetricia. El director del Hospital, Dr. José Fernández resaltó el trabajo de OPS y su continuo apoyo "Somos un hospital referencial que atiende a una población de más de 850 mil habitantes y el equipamiento es básico para poder responder a las necesidades de la población, disminuir la mortalidad materna, infantil y neonatal en nuestra región", concluyó.
Emergency Medical Team from Costa Rica first in the Americas to receive EMT classification from WHO
The team will be added to the international roster of Emergency Medical Teams for rapid deployment when requested by countries experiencing disasters or emergencies.
Geneva, 26 May 2017 (PAHO/WHO) - The Emergency Medical Team of the Costa Rican Social Security Fund (CCSS) is the first in the Region of the Americas to be accepted by the World Health Organization (WHO) for its Emergency Medical Teams Initiative.
Today WHO Director-General Margaret Chan, together with PAHO Director Carissa F. Etienne, presented the classification to the Minister of Health of Costa Rica, Fernando Llorca, and to the Director of Emergencies of the Costa Rican Social Security Fund, Daniel Quesada. The letter was delivered during the course of the 70th World Health Assembly.
Meeting of the Consultation Group on Leadership and Coordination of Humanitarian Assistance in Health for the Americas
Following up on the commitments made during the Meeting of the Regional Consultation Group that was formed at the request of PAHO/WHO's 53rd Directing Council for the Implementation of the Plan of Action for the Coordination of Humanitarian Assistance (document CD53/12), and after a meeting held in Lima, Peru in July 2015, the National Unit for Risk Management of Colombia (UNGRD) and the Pan American Health Organization have worked together to meet the objectives set out in the Plan of Action for the Coordination of Humanitarian Assistance, especially in the Strategic Line of Action 3: Leadership, Coordination and Accountability.
