April 2017 - Avalanche in Mocoa, Colombia

ColombiaLandslideApr2-IconHeavy rainfall, with accumulations of up to 120 mm, during the night of 31 March 2017 caused landslides and overflow of the Mocoa, Sangoyaco and Mulata rivers in the municipality of Mocoa, capital of the Putumayo Department. A sudden rise, which dragged mud and stones, mainly affected the districts of San Miguel, San Fernando, Los Pinos, Huasipanga, Progreso, Modelo, Independencia San Agustín and Vereda San Antonio. Official data issued by UNGRD on 1 April 2017 reported 154 deaths, 200 injured and 300 families affected.

March 2017 - Health Sector Mobilized to Respond to the Emergency Caused by Heavy Rainfall in Peru

altSince December 2016, Peru has been dealing with persistent rainfall and flooding that have left dozens of people dead. However, during the first months of this year, the greatest number of human and material losses have been registered in the departments of Tumbes, Piura, Lambayeque, Loreto, Ica, Ancash, Cajamarca, La Libertad, Huancavelica, and Lima provinces. They have been declared to be in State of Emergency, by the National Government. According to a report from the INDECI, from December 2016 to 29 March 2017 reports, 124,909 victims, 829,565 affected, 91 deaths and 350 injured. 15,044 homes have collapsed, 15,140 are uninhabitable; and 184,112 are affected.

February 2017 - Updated requirements for the International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis (ICVP) with proof of vaccination against yellow fever

The Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) has updated the requirements for the International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis (ICVP) with proof of vaccination against yellow fever; this table will be updated as PAHO/WHO receives information from national authorities about changes of the requirements.
