Veracruz, Mexico, 8 December 2014 (PAHO/WHO) — The Director of the Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO), Dr. Carissa F. Etienne, is in Mexico this week for the 24th Ibero-American Conference of Heads of State and Governments, which is being held in Veracruz on December 8 and 9.

Etienne is meeting with ministers of foreign affairs and other government officials from the Americas to exchange ideas on ways of strengthening public health in the region, from advancing universal health coverage to preparing for the potential introduction of Ebola into the region.
