medicines in the caribbean

The financial impact following the incorporation of high cost and strategic medicines into the health system in middle- and low-income Latin American and Caribbean countries will be the main topic discussed at the meeting to be held in Santiago, Chile, on 2 and 3 of September 2015. The participants -representatives of health authorities- will share experiences and lessons learned among different stakeholders and discuss strategies to improve access to high cost and strategic medicines and decrease the financial impact of their incorporation in the region of the Americas.


High Cost and Strategic Medicines: Mechanisms to Ensure Universal Access

Location: Santiago, Chile Objectives:

• Analyze the financial impact of incorporating high cost and strategic medicines into the health sector;

• Share experiences and lessons learned among different stakeholders and discuss strategies to improve access to high cost and strategic medicines and decrease the financial impact of their incorporation;

• Discuss common proposals that may be addressed through pragmatic actions aiming to increase access to high cost and strategic medicines at global level with a focus in countries of Latin America and the Caribbean.
