Geneva, 24 May 2016 (PAHO/WHO) - Grenada was appointed to the vice-presidency of Committee A, which debates technical and health matters at the 69th World Health Assembly, this week in Geneva, Switzerland. The Minister of Health and Social Security of Grenada, Nickolas Steele, will hold the position.

At Committee A meetings, resolutions are approved for submission to the plenary meeting. In addition to Committee A, the delegates meet in Committee B to address financing and management matters. This year, the latter Committee will also address some technical issues.

Other countries of the Americas were also appointed to positions during this World Health Assembly. Haiti and Bolivia will be part of the Committee on Credentials, while Panama, Argentina, Cuba, Antigua and Barbuda, and the United States will be part of the General Committee.
