Webinar SAFER 14August EN

On Wednesday, 14 August,  2019, join us in a new session of the Alcohol and Health Webinar Series, to learn more about "WHO's SAFER Initiative"

In this webinar, the new WHO led initiative and technical package will be presented, outlining 5 cost effective policies that countries can take up to reduce harmful use of alcohol. Each letter stands for a strategic action:

  • Strengthen restrictions on alcohol availability;
  • Advance and enforce drink driving counter measures;
  • Facilitate access to screening, brief interventions and treatment;
  • Enforce bans or comprehensive restrictions on alcohol advertising, sponsorship, and promotion;
  • Raise prices on alcohol through excise taxes and pricing policies.

The initiative is part of the work of WHO towards the implementation of the global alcohol strategy for reducing harmful use of alcohol.

Mr Dag Rekve, Alcohol Policy Advisor at the World Health Organization.

Mr. Rekve holds a Master’s Degree in Business and Economics and has in addition studies in psychology, addiction behavior and as a naval officer. He has been working for WHO the last 15 years.
