Dr. Guillermo Paraje will present on the taxes on alcoholic beverages, evidence, affordability, costs and new data from Latin America.

Dr. Guillermo Paraje is a professor at the Adolfo Ibáñez University Business School (Chile). He obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Economics from the University of Córdoba (Argentina) and his Doctorate in Economics from the University of Cambridge (United Kingdom). He is a researcher in health economics (equity in health, health systems, economic policies for the control of non-communicable diseases) in developing countries. He has published more than 30 scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals and specialized books. He has been a consultant to the World Health Organization, the World Bank, UNDP, UNICEF, ECLAC, the Inter-American Development Bank, among others.

Alcohol and Health Webinar Series
The Mental Health and Substance Abuse Unit will be coordinating a series of webinars on Alcohol and Health throughout 2019. The webinar series is aimed at disseminating up-to-date and accurate information about alcohol epidemiology, harms, policies and research in the Region of the Americas and globally, which in turn can be used for advocacy, policy development and implementation.
