La Paz, Bolivia -  In the town of Kasani, near the shores of Lake Titicaca along the Bolivia-Peru border, a regional launch will take place at 10:30 a.m., April 26, for the 9th Annual Vaccination Week in the Americas, whose slogan this year is "Vaccinate your family, protect your community."

To date, more than 323 million people have been vaccinated as a result of activities carried out in the framework of VWA.

Participants in the April 26 event will include Mayor of Copacabana Emir Quispe Alcalde, Mayor of Yunguyo Walker Chalco Rondón, President of the Region of Puno, Bolivia, Mauricio Rodríguez Rodríguez, and César Cocarico Yana, Governor of the Department of La Paz, Bolivia.

The event will bring together children, adolescents, senior citizens, national authorities, and representatives of municipalities, international cooperation agencies, social organizations and civil society from both countries, together with health workers from Bolivia and Peru, to demonstrate their commitment to promoting and supporting Vaccination Week in the Americas.

The event is being organized by the Ministry of Health and Sports of the Plurinational State of Bolivia, the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Peru, and PAHO/WHO, with support from the Bolivian Network of Risk and Outbreak Communicators(REBCOR).
