ProPAN is a tool to design, implement, and evaluate interventions and programs to improve infant and young child diet and feeding. It includes 1) a field manual with step-by-step guidelines on how to apply quantitative and qualitative research methods; 2) an Epi Info™-based software program for data entry and analysis; and 3) a software user's guide.

A two-week training seminar was conducted by UNICEF in Ethiopia, in May. Teams comprising of representatives of Ministries of Health, UNICEF, Academia and NGOs from four countries participated: Ethiopia, South Africa, Kenya and Somalia. The purpose was to develop capacity to develop trainers who can provide training in the region and also to develop capacity to implement ProPAN

A 2-hour online training session on the use of the software was held in Spanish on June 18th. with approximately 50 participants.  It consisted of an overview of software downloading and installation, and detailed instructions for data entry and analysis for each data collection instrument, followed by questions and answers.
