A new report from the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) reveals that the number of road traffic deaths continues to rise in the Americas, reaching almost 155,000 per year, 11% of the world’s total.

People can reduce their risk of dementia by getting regular exercise, not smoking, avoiding harmful use of alcohol, controlling their weight, eating a healthy diet, and maintaining healthy blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar levels, according to new guidelines issued by the World Health Organization (WHO) today.


The English Caribbean island has begun implementing a computer system developed by PAHO and its Latin American Perinatology Center to improve neonatal health and reduce deaths in the first month of life.
