Washington D.C., 28 May, 2019 (PAHO/WHO) - Representatives of the Unit of Health Services and Access of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) participated in the technical meeting on "Universal health and the role of the private sector: regulatory challenges of the national health authorities," in Montevideo, Uruguay, together with technicians from several countries in the Region and from the Union of South American Nations.


Washington, D.C., 20 May 2019 (PAHO)- The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) presented a report with the results of the ten-year evaluation of the Health System reform implemented in El Salvador. The report was presented in a event convened by the PAHO Office in El Salvador, on 17 May, 2019, with Violeta Menjíva (Minister of Health), María Isabel Rodríguez (former Minister of Health and current presidential adviser in health and education), and the Deputy Ministers of Health Services and Health Policies of El Salvador present.


Washington DC, 20 May, 2019 (PAHO/WHO) - Representatives of the Unit of Medicines and Health Technologies of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) participated in the International Seminar towards the creation of a National Health Technology Assessment Agency in Argentina (known in Spanish as AGNET), which took place in the city of Buenos Aires, on 2 May, 2019.


Safe blood for all. 14 June 2019 This year, World Blood Donor Day will once again be celebrated around the world on 14 June. The event serves to thank voluntary, unpaid blood donors for their life-saving gifts of blood and also to raise awareness of the need for regular blood donations to ensure that all individuals and communities have access to affordable and timely supplies of safe and quality-assured blood and blood products, as an integral part of universal health coverage and a key component of effective health systems.
