The Director of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), Dr. Carissa F. Etienne, and the executive secretary of the Council of Ministers of Health of Central America and the Dominican Republic (COMISCA), Alejandro Solis Martinez, have signed an agreement to improve the health of countries in the Central American Integration System (SICA).
The challenges and opportunities that a rapidly aging population bring were discussed during a side event at the Pan American Health Organization´s (PAHO) 57th Directing Council, which brings together ministers and high-level health authorities from around the Region until 4 October.
PAHO Director Carissa F. Etienne invited country delegates to take actions to ensure that primary care forms the basis of health systems, as part of the 30-30-30 Compact for Universal Health.
Delegates to the Pan American Health Organization’s 57th Directing Council were briefed today on PAHO’s efforts to increase countries’ access to medicines for viral hepatitis C through the Regional Revolving Fund for Strategic Public Health Supplies (PAHO Strategic Fund).
